CNS Covid-19 Notice

CNS COVID-19 NOTICE

As you read this, our hope is that you and your loved ones are well.  These are challenging times for each of us and negotiating our new normal certainly will take time and patience.  At CNS, our primary goal is to ensure the health of the families we serve, our staff, and our community as a whole.  The following information outlines our current model of care as well as our precautionary steps.

At this time, we have begun to provide teleneuropsychological assessments of children, adolescents and young adults.  These assessments are conducted through a HIPAA compliant telehealth portal and continue to thoroughly capture referral source concerns and presenting questions, client history, and both standardized and qualitative data used to generate a valid formulation and relevant recommendations.  Our model continues to emphasize a “test for success” approach and assesses the following domains:

  • Intelligence/IQ
  • Processing and production speed
  • Executive control functions
  • Attention
  • Language
  • Learning and memory
  • Visual spatial skills
  • Motor functions
  • Social communication skills
  • Emotional status
  • Academic achievement
  • Adaptive skills

Depending on your assessment goals and child’s ability to engage via a telehealth platform, we are often able to gather enough data to generate a final report.  In cases where we cannot, we will provide final testing in our offices when restrictions are modified.  At this time, our in-office testing is extremely limited and contact free.  In cases where in-person assessment is deemed essential for immediate action, we adhere to precautionary steps designed to help safeguard clients and staff.  Specifically:

  • Children and their families are seen on separate floors of our outpatient facility
  • Plexiglass shield guards are between your child and the clinician
  • The use of manipulatives is significantly restricted
  • Increased disinfecting procedures of our testing materials, equipment and surfaces
  • Avoidance of outside materials, including snacks, water, etc…
  • We confirm the wellness of both your child, you, and CNS Staff to further discern risk factors such as:
    • recent fever
    • contact with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 carrier
